Pashinyan says authorities track individuals allegedly serving foreign interests

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Saturday that state security agencies maintain a “substantial dossier” on individuals suspected of acting in accordance with foreign political agendas, while stopping short of accusing them of espionage.

Speaking at a government briefing, Pashinyan said those under scrutiny were not prosecuted because they had not yet crossed the legal threshold into espionage activity.

“If they are still at liberty, it means they have not crossed the line of espionage, but they are acting within that logic,” he said, adding that some of the individuals in question were “very close to the line” and “walking along the edge.”

He warned that any crossing of that threshold would prompt an official response.

Pashinyan also claimed he personally has access to a list of the names, surnames and contact details of the individuals concerned, stressing that his remarks referred primarily to political figures.

“I am speaking first and foremost about political actors,” he said.
