Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved a request to change the official account name of the alliance led by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan.
The bloc, originally registered as “Strong Armenia with Samvel Karapetyan”, will now appear under the simplified title “Strong Armenia”.
The decision came after Gohar Meloyan, the alliance’s authorized representative, petitioned the commission for clarification on recent amendments to Armenia’s Electoral Code and the rules governing party and alliance registration. The CEC explained that the changes are rooted in constitutional revisions adopted on April 7, 2026, which apply to the nomination and registration of political entities ahead of the June 7 parliamentary elections.
In its statement, the commission underscored that it does not hold authority to adjudicate the legality of alliance names during this electoral cycle. However, it confirmed receipt of the alliance’s request to alter its account designation and formally granted approval.
“As a result, the alliance’s account name is Strong Armenia,” the CEC said.
