Armenian physician and health sector organizer Gevorg Grigoryan has accused Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan of misleading the public with inflated statistics about the country’s health insurance system.
In his third video statement shared on Wednesday, Grigoryan criticized Avanesyan’s remarks during a closed parliamentary debate, where she said 1,386,000 outpatient services had been delivered since the introduction of the system. Grigoryan questioned how many of those services were actually provided in polyclinics and noted that most of the reported services were already accessible to citizens before the insurance program was launched.
“The minister, avoiding debate and confrontation with the truth, claims that more than a million outpatient services have been carried out,” Grigoryan said, adding that the figures amount to “numerical manipulation” rather than evidence of expanded access.
