Opposition politician Khachik Galstyan's house arrest extended

The Armenian Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday extended the house arrest of opposition Homeland Party member Khachik Galstyan by three months, his lawyer Arsen Babayan said.

Babayan relayed a statement from Galstyan, who remains barred from communicating directly with others under the terms of his detention. In the message, Galstyan compared his prosecution in Armenia to trials of ethnic Armenians held in Azerbaijan, framing both as punishment for loyalty to national identity and faith.

Galstyan also invoked the 19th‑century troubadour Jivani, saying the poet would have written about what he called a “political circus” in Armenia today. He signed his statement as a “prisoner of conscience, faith and homeland.”
