Artur Avanesyan, a member of the opposition Strong Armenia party and co‑founder of the party’s security program, has reportedly been detained by Armenia’s Anti‑Corruption Committee. Avanesyan, who is also known by the nickname “Kandaz” and has a background in military intelligence, was said to have been detained earlier on Monday.
The Anti‑Corruption Committee has neither confirmed nor denied the media reports. Members of the Strong Armenia party have so far declined to comment.
