Armenian ministry says liquefied gas disruptions are temporary amid border delays

The Armenian Economy Ministry said on Tuesday that recent disruptions in liquefied gas supplies are temporary and caused by logistical delays, not a nationwide shortage.

In a statement addressing public concerns, the ministry said congestion at the Upper Lars checkpoint, a key transit route between Russia and Georgia, has delayed the entry of several gas-carrying trucks. The disruptions have affected the normal supply flow, leading to intermittent shortages at some filling stations.

Officials stressed that the situation does not constitute a full deficit and said authorities are working closely with importers and partner agencies to restore regular deliveries as quickly as possible.

The ministry noted that prices could be influenced by both logistical challenges and fluctuations in international markets tied to regional developments. At the same time, it said the market is under close monitoring to prevent unjustified price increases or speculative behavior.

Citizens were urged to avoid panic buying and to rely solely on official reports as efforts to stabilize supplies continue.
