Macron to pay tribute to Armenian Genocide victims in Yerevan

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to visit Armenia from 3 to 5 May, the Armenian government reports.

During his trip, President Macron will first attend the European Political Community summit, which is scheduled to take place in the capital, Yerevan.

His official state visit will begin on 5 May. Talks are expected to be held between Macron and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, starting with a private meeting followed by wider discussions involving delegations from both countries. The two leaders are also expected to sign a number of agreements before delivering joint statements to the media.

As part of the visit, Macron will lay a wreath at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex in tribute to the Armenian Genocide victims. He will also visit the Matenadaran.

A separate meeting is planned between Macron and Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.

The visit will also include a trip to the city of Gyumri, where the French leader, accompanied by Pashinyan, will pay tribute to the victims of the 1988 earthquake. The two leaders are also expected to attend a concert titled Musical Bridge: Armenia–France.
