Samvel Karapetyan says relentless work is key to success

Businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, the prime ministerial candidate of the “Strong Armenia” party, marked International Workers’ Day by emphasizing that success stems from tireless efforts, persistence and professional mastery.

In the series “Five Questions for the Next Prime Minister”, Karapetyan, who is credited with creating tens of thousands of jobs, said achievements are built on “very hard work, first of all the result of working 24 hours a day… persistence… and understanding the craft.”

Recalling his early career, Karapetyan described the hardships of the 1990s while living in Kaluga, Russia. “Those were truly difficult times. We passed through them with dignity and afterward everything became a little easier. It gave us great experience,” he said.

He also explained the origins of his company’s name, “Tashir”, chosen to highlight his native region. “As a student, when asked where I was from, I would say Kalinino district, and 90 percent had no idea where that was. It hurt me. From then on, I wanted people to know exactly where I came from. Today, many around the world know where Tashir is.”

Karapetyan recounted that his first job was working summers as a student alongside his brother in road construction brigades from Tashir. “It was grueling manual labor. We laid asphalt with our hands, but the quality was better than with German machinery used by the Pashinyan government,” he said, noting that he split his earnings between supporting his parents and sustaining himself in Yerevan.
