Macron: Armenia was seen as Russia’s satellite eight years ago

French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted Armenia’s transformation in recent years at the 8th summit of the European Political Community in Yerevan on Monday.

“Let’s be honest, no one would have come here eight years ago,” Macron said. “The fact that we now see so many first visits to your country is truly a positive sign.”

According to him, Armenia was previously regarded by many countries as “a de facto satellite of Russia.”

Macron credited Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with reshaping Armenia’s trajectory. “Nikol organized the revolution, chose to de-risk the country, and ultimately benefited from it.”
