Martin Galstyan re-elected as Central Bank chief

The Armenian National Assembly has reappointed Martin Galstyan as Chairman of the Central Bank following a vote in a closed session.

Out of 107 deputies, 69 participated in the ballot, with all votes cast in favour of Galstyan. No invalid ballots were detected, according to Narek Babayan, head of the parliamentary counting commission, who announced the results during Tuesday’s session.

Galstyan’s candidacy was nominated by the ruling Civil Contract faction and endorsed by the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs in line with Article 145 of the parliament regulations.

“The votes were distributed as follows: in favour – 69, against – 0. Thus, Martin Galstyan has been elected Chairman of the Central Bank,” Babayan declared.
