Cannes special program to honor Artavazd Pelechian

The Cannes Film Festival’s Cannes Classics section will present a special program dedicated to the creative legacy of Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian, the Cinema Foundation of Armenia reported.

Within the program, five restored films by Pelechian will be screened as part of the Pelechian Project, including Land of the People (1966), The Beginning (1967), We (1969), The Inhabitants (1970) and Seasons (1975).

The inclusion of Pelechian’s films is seen as yet another recognition of his work on the international stage, reaffirming his distinctive place in the history of cinema.
