The opposition Strong Armenia party has issued a statement marking May 9, which commemorates the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, the liberation of Shushi in 1992 and the establishment of the Artsakh Defense Army.
In its message, the party congratulated Armenians on the occasion. “May 9 can never be erased from the history of the Armenian people, no matter how much the small group may wish it,” it said, referring to Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party.
“It will forever remain a day of victory forged by our grandfathers in Berlin in 1945 and by our fathers and brothers in Shushi in 1992.”
The party said the message of May 9 “will forever illuminate our path toward future triumphs”.
