Armenian opposition MP responds to Aliyev’s remarks

Armenian opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan has hit back at Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s recent claims that political forces in Armenia remain driven by "hatred” toward Azerbaijan.

Writing on social media on Monday, Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, strongly condemned the Azerbaijani leader's remarks made during a visit to Kovsakan (Zangelan).

”Ironically, a country talking about hatred, intolerance and aggression is the very one that committed genocide against Artsakh Armenians, extracting concessions through blackmail and threats," he said.

The opposition MP argued that if Aliyev expects Armenia to accept the current geopolitical situation without resistance, he will face strong opposition within the country.

“If Aliyev’s remarks imply adapting to these realities and surrendering, then yes, there are political forces and individuals in Armenia who reject the coordinated efforts of the Aliyev-Pashinyan tandem,” Abrahamyan said.

He also reaffirmed his faction’s commitment to opposing hostile actions targeting the Armenian people.
