Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has detained several supporters and office employees of the opposition Strong Armenia party, which is running in the June 7 parliamentary elections, a lawyer said on Wednesday.
Attorney Lusine Martirosyan reported that the detentions had lasted for hours and alleged that defense lawyers were being prevented from taking part in the proceedings. She said appeals had been filed with the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
Martirosyan questioned the legal basis of the actions, describing them as an “unjustified waste of state resources”.
