Armenian Symphony Orchestra to tour China

The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra is set to perform in China later this month, showcasing the works of Aram Khachaturian alongside global classical masterpieces.

On 23 May, the orchestra will appear at the Shanghai Chenshan Music Festival, one of Asia’s largest classical events, attracting more than 10,000 spectators annually and drawing tens of millions of online viewers worldwide. This year’s program highlights Khachaturian’s Spartacus ballet, marking its 70th anniversary, as well as other works by the composer.

Renowned Chinese pianist Xiang-Dong Kong will join the orchestra to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. On 24 May, the ensemble will give a second concert at the Fujian Grand Theater. Both performances will be conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.
