The Armenian Defense Ministry has announced that artillery fire will be heard this week as part of preparations for the military parade in Yerevan marking Republic Day on 28 May.
A single ceremonial shot will be fired from a cannon in Lusakert on 21 May at around 2 p.m. local time. Later on 22 May at 10 a.m., two rounds will be discharged in Yerevan — one from the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy in the Nor Nork district and another from the Hrazdan Stadium.
Officials stressed that the firings are part of organisational work ahead of the parade in Republic Square, which will mark the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia in 1918. Residents have been asked to take note and not be alarmed by the sounds of gunfire.
