Armenians are calling for a leader who embodies compassion, responsibility and unwavering dedication to national values, according to a small survey conducted among citizens on Saturday.
Respondents emphasised that the country’s next leader should be attentive to the struggles of ordinary people while remaining steadfast in defending Armenia’s interests. One participant said the nation needs someone “caring and responsible, like Karen Demirchyan,” the late Soviet-era Armenian statesman.
Others drew inspiration from historic figures. A woman highlighted the importance of self-sacrifice, saying Armenia’s leader should be “like Garegin Nzhdeh and Andranik Ozanian — ready to give their life for the homeland.”
The survey also revealed disillusionment with current politics. One respondent noted that they had supported Nikol Pashinyan’s rise to power in 2018 but now intend to oppose him, reflecting a shift in public sentiment.
