Strong Armenia pledges free housing for large families

Strong Armenia party member Gohar Ghumashyan says the party will push for sweeping family support measures if elected, including cash incentives and free housing for large families.

“While the authorities promise a bright future, many families in Armenia are simply trying to survive,” Ghumashyan said, noting that many couples delay having children due to financial hardship.

Under the proposal, families would receive 2 million drams (about $5,000) for their fourth child and a free apartment upon the birth of a fifth. The pledge is part of Strong Armenia’s campaign ahead of the June 7 parliamentary elections.

Ghumashyan framed the initiative as part of a broader push for change, saying, “Change will be delivered by Armenia’s next prime minister, Samvel Karapetyan.”
