Armenian authorities search over 50 locations in probe linked to opposition party

Armenian authorities on Thursday conducted searches at more than 50 locations across the country as part of a criminal investigation into alleged vote-buying and large-scale money laundering, Investigative Committee spokesperson Kima Avdalyan said.

Pastinfo reported that law enforcement operations were underway in Armavir, Lori, Syunik and Vayots Dzor Provinces. The outlet said the investigation is connected to a case involving Alik Aleksanyan and other individuals affiliated with the opposition Strong Armenia party.

The raids come two days before Armenia's parliamentary elections

Levon Sargizov, a member of Strong Armenia, denounced the searches in a Facebook post, stressing they were politically motivated.
