Armat Media newsroom raided amid free speech concerns

Investigators have begun searches at the newsroom of Armat Media, prompting sharp criticism from staff who called the move an attack on press freedom.

“What is happening right now at Armat Media’s editorial office is simply unacceptable. This is a campaign against free speech,” editor Nelli Avetisyan said earlier.

A Panorama.am correspondent reports that law-enforcement officers have confiscated journalists’ phones while preventing them from leaving their offices.
