Armenia election turnout reaches 48.92%

Voter turnout in Armenia’s parliamentary elections reached 48.92% by 5 p.m. on Sunday, with more than 1.22 million citizens casting ballots, according to latest figures released by the Central Electoral Commission.

The commission reported that 1,224,957 voters had participated in the election by 5 p.m. out of 2,505,102 eligible voters nationwide.

Turnout steadily increased throughout the day. By 11 a.m., 362,657 voters, or 14.48% of the electorate, had cast ballots. Participation rose to 847,226 voters, or 33.84%, by 2 p.m.

The figures place turnout well ahead of the pace recorded during Armenia’s June 20, 2021 snap parliamentary elections. At the same point in that vote, 989,972 of the country’s 2,593,572 eligible voters had cast ballots, representing 38.17% turnout.
