Armenia’s election chief reports technical issues at polling stations

Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission acknowledged on Sunday that several polling stations experienced technical problems as citizens voted in parliamentary elections.

CEC Chairman Vahagn Hovakimyan said the commission’s situation center is monitoring all reports and media coverage, working to resolve issues quickly. “There cannot be a problem that remains unsolved,” he told reporters.

One issue involved devices printing receipts with voter numbers that did not match the printed voter list. Hovakimyan said voters in such cases were instructed to sign next to their names in the list to ensure proper documentation.

He also reminded voters that pens are not permitted during the voting process, warning that any marks on envelopes or ballots would render them invalid.
