Gagik Tsarukyan charged with tax evasion

Armenian prosecutors have opened a criminal case against opposition leader Gagik Tsarukyan, accusing him of evading large-scale taxes.

The Prosecutor General’s Office announced on Tuesday that Tsarukyan, head of the Prosperous Armenia Party, is charged under Article 290 of the Criminal Code for tax evasion in especially large amounts, 1lurer.am reported.

Local media reported that Tsarukyan attempted to depart Armenia through Zvartnots International Airport earlier on Tuesday, but was stopped by law enforcement officials.
