Archaeologists in Armenia have reported significant discoveries during renewed excavations at the Big Desert of Tatev (Great Hermitage of Tatev), a a medieval Armenian monastery in Syunik Province.
The excavation team, led by A. Nalbandyan from the Research Center for Historical and Cultural Heritage, recently resumed work at the monastery complex. Although the dig has only just begun, the team has already uncovered fragments of medieval pottery and a number of architectural details. These finds are expected to shed new light on the daily life and craftsmanship of the monastic community.
