Armenia’s Environment and Mining Inspectorate has launched an investigation after yellow-orange rainwater was seen coursing through the streets of Kapan in the country’s southern Syunik Province.
The runoff followed heavy rainfall on June 14, which carried water from the Kavart mine area into the city. Officials said the unusual coloration prompted public concern and led to the opening of administrative proceedings.
Inspectors have collected water samples to analyze their composition and assess any potential environmental impact. The agency said laboratory results and further updates on the case will be released once available.
