Several injured as bus carrying children collides in Armenian town

A bus carrying children on a summer camp excursion was involved in a collision in the Armenian town of Ashtarak on Wednesday, leaving several passengers injured.

The crash occurred shortly after noon on Tigran Mets Street when a Mercedes Sprinter collided with a Hyundai County bus, Shamshyan.com reported. Emergency medical teams arrived quickly, transporting two injured individuals to Ashtarak Medical Center and one to Armenia Medical Center in Yerevan.

Bystanders rushed to assist the injured before paramedics reached the scene. Armenia’s Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case to determine the circumstances of the incident, including the identities of the drivers, vehicle owners and passengers.

The bus was carrying about 18 passengers, most of them children, who were traveling from the Telak Summer Camp to Karin village for an excursion.
