Minor earthquake strikes Armenia

A magnitude 2.1 earthquake struck northern Armenia on Monday morning, the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of Armenia’s Interior Ministry reported.

The earthquake struck at 9:03 a.m. local time with an epicenter located about 20 kilometers northwest of the town of Ijevan in Tavush Province. The tremor originated at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Authorities said the intensity of shaking in the epicentral area measured between 2 and 3 on the local intensity scale.

The earthquake was felt in the Tavush communities of Ijevan and Noyemberyan, as well as in the villages of Koghb, Achajur and Voskepar.
