Authorities search opposition MP Ishkhan Saghatelyan's home; nothing found

Law enforcement officers searched the home of opposition lawmaker Ishkhan Saghatelyan on Tuesday.

Saghatelyan, a senior member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) and an MP from the opposition Hayastan faction, was subjected to a search beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m., fellow MP Gegham Manukyan told Armenia Sputnik.

Manukyan said neither he nor attorney Sergey Harutyunyan was allowed to enter the residence while the search was underway.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the investigation or legal proceedings related to the operation.

Following the search, Harutyunyan told Pastinfo that officers had completed their examination of Saghatelyan’s apartment and had found nothing.

“The search of the apartment has been completed. Naturally, nothing was discovered,” Harutyunyan said.

According to the attorney, law enforcement officers subsequently moved to search Saghatelyan’s vehicles.
