Activist Avetik Chalabyan detained amid criminal probe

Armenian authorities have arrested Avetik Chalabyan, a public and political activist who coordinates the HayaKve civic initiative.

Chalabyan was detained as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the Investigative Committee told Panorama.am. 

The agency did not provide any other details, adding that a formal statement will be issued later.

Earlier reports indicated that Chalabyan was taken into custody in the morning.
