Armenian justice minister says ruling party should prepare for new elections if court overturns vote

Armenia’s Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan said on Saturday that the ruling Civil Contract party should be prepared to contest new elections if the Constitutional Court overturns the results of the June 7 parliamentary vote.

The court is hearing consolidated appeals from seven opposition groups challenging the election outcome.

Speaking to reporters during the proceedings, Galyan, who represents Civil Contract in the case, stated: “If the Constitutional Court makes such a decision, we must prepare for new elections.”
