Armenian opposition MP warns of emerging crisis in EAEU ties

Armenian opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan says the diplomatic standoff surrounding the Russian-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is now extending to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), citing a recent exchange between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russia's Foreign Ministry.

Speaking in response to remarks made by Pashinyan during a cabinet meeting regarding the EAEU and Moscow's subsequent official reaction, Abrahamyan argued that the developments signal the emergence of a broader crisis in Armenia's engagement with Russian-led regional integration structures.

Writing on social media on Saturday, he stated that Armenia's parliamentary elections, held on June 7, were expected to bring not only domestic political realignment but also significant changes in the country's external posture.

"It is becoming increasingly evident that Armenia's integration processes, along with its bilateral and multilateral relations, are rapidly entering a new phase—one that brings fresh challenges," Abrahamyan said.
