Deputy PM reaffirms Armenia's commitment to deepening ties with Iran

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan reaffirmed Yerevan's commitment to further strengthening its longstanding friendly relations with Iran during a meeting with Iranian Vice President and Head of the Planning and Budget Organization Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi and his delegation on Friday, the Armenian government reported.

Speaking on behalf of the Armenian government, Grigoryan underscored Armenia's readiness to expand bilateral cooperation across a range of strategic sectors.

The two sides reviewed key items on the Armenia-Iran bilateral agenda, including cooperation in transportation, energy, trade and economic relations, as well as other areas of mutual interest.

Discussions also focused on modernizing the Armenia-Iran border checkpoint and increasing its processing capacity, measures that officials said would directly facilitate cross-border trade and bolster economic cooperation between the neighboring countries.

Grigoryan and Pourmohammadi, who serve as co-chairs of the Armenia-Iran Intergovernmental Joint Commission, emphasized the commission's pivotal role in advancing bilateral relations and agreed to continue consultations within that framework.
