Armenian investigators have asked the Anti-Corruption Court to extend the pre-trial detention of opposition politician Armen Ashotyan by two months, his lawyer said on Wednesday.
Attorney Ruben Melikyan announced that the petition will be reviewed on July 2 at 6:30 p.m. Ashotyan, a prominent opposition figure, was arrested on June 5.
Melikyan noted that Ashotyan had previously spent 777 days in detention in an earlier case, saying his total time behind bars under the current government now exceeds 800 days.
