Highway crash in Armenia leaves one dead

A fatal accident on the Yerevan-Gyumri highway left one person dead and another injured late on Wednesday, Shamshyan.com reported.

A Volkswagen and a Chevrolet collided at around 9:35 p.m. near the 30-kilometer mark of the highway. As the drivers and passengers exited their vehicles to assess the situation, a Saturn struck the Chevrolet’s driver and passenger.

Romela Sargsyan, 22, died at the scene. Another individual was taken to Armenia Medical Center with injuries.

Bystanders provided immediate aid before emergency responders from Ashtarak Medical Center arrived to administer first aid and transport the injured victim.

A criminal investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the crash.
