Strong winds bring down trees, power lines in Armenia

Strong winds caused damage across Armenia's capital Yerevan and the village of Tsovak in Gegharkunik Province late on Friday, toppling trees, damaging power infrastructure and blocking roads, the Interior Ministry said.

The ministry said its 112 emergency operations center began receiving reports from 9:53 p.m. local time of storm-related incidents, including fallen trees, leaning electricity poles, downed power lines, damaged building structures and loosened roof panels.

Rescue service units responded to all reported incidents, cutting and removing fallen trees, dismantling hazardous structural elements, securing affected areas and clearing blocked roads, the ministry said.
