Armenian opposition figure Aregnaz Manukyan detained

Armenian authorities have detained opposition figure and former lawmaker Aregnaz Manukyan pending her appearance before a court.

The Investigative Committee confirmed the detention to Panorama.am on Thursday, saying it was carried out as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Earlier on Thursday, Manukyan, a board member of the opposition Mother Armenia party, posted a video on social media saying law enforcement officers had entered her apartment.

Later, Manuk Sukiasyan, head of the Mother Armenia faction in the Yerevan City Council, said Manukyan had been taken into custody.
