Former MP Aregnaz Manukyan accused of disclosing state secrets

Armenian law-enforcement authorities have detained former lawmaker and Mother Armenia party board member Aregnaz Manukyan as part of a criminal investigation into the alleged disclosure of state secrets, investigators said on Thursday.

The Investigative Committee told Panorama.am that Manukyan has been charged under Article 427.1 of Armenia's Criminal Code, which criminalizes the disclosure of information containing state secrets.

According to the agency, Manukyan was detained pending her appearance before a court.

Earlier on Thursday, she posted a video on social media saying law enforcement officers had entered her home.

Later, Manuk Sukiasyan, head of the Mother Armenia faction in the Yerevan City Council, said Manukyan had been taken into custody.
