Shirak governor declines parliament seat

Shirak Governor Davit Arushanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party, said on Friday he will forgo his newly won parliamentary mandate to continue serving in his regional post.

Arushanyan announced that he had formally declined his seat in the National Assembly, stressing that his focus remains on Shirak province and its capital, Gyumri.

“Public service is a responsibility toward people,” Arushanyan said in a statement. “I will continue with greater determination to work for Shirak’s development, new projects, infrastructure improvements, and the progress of our province and beloved Gyumri.”

He expressed gratitude to Shirak residents for their support, calling their trust “the greatest responsibility,” and pledged to meet expectations through daily work and concrete action.
