Starlink donates 56 devices to Armenia

Armenia has received 56 Starlink satellite internet devices donated by the U.S.-based company to strengthen the country’s emergency response capabilities.

The donation followed negotiations between Armenia’s Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Starlink, the ministry reported on Saturday.

The equipment will be handed over to the Interior Ministry for use by the Rescue Service, providing reliable high-speed internet during disasters and other crises when traditional infrastructure may be disrupted.

Officials said the devices will enhance communication diversity in emergencies, supporting rescue operations, disaster response, and crisis management, particularly in remote areas.

Starlink, operated by SpaceX, runs the world’s largest constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites, delivering broadband internet to millions globally. The system has been widely used to maintain connectivity in disaster zones and conflict areas.

The ministry noted that the donation builds on existing cooperation with Starlink. Earlier, 110 devices were provided to connect schools in Armenia’s remote villages, giving thousands of students access to the internet.

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry praised the partnership, calling the latest contribution a significant boost to the country’s preparedness and resilience in emergencies.
