David Khazhakyan announces departure from Bright Armenia Party

Armenian politician David Khazhakyan has announced his exit from the opposition Bright Armenia Party, saying he considers his mission within the political organization complete after years of service.

In a statement released on Monday, Khazhakyan said joining a political party at the age of 21 was a difficult but deliberate decision that he has never regretted. He described his time in politics as a formative period of personal and professional growth.

He recalled that, for several election cycles, he was too young to stand as a candidate, adding that those obstacles were eventually overcome. Throughout his tenure, he said, he sought to be a team player, sharing in the party's successes while accepting responsibility for its setbacks.

Khazhakyan thanked his current and former colleagues, as well as Bright Armenia leader Edmon Marukyan, whom he credited with earning his trust and contributing to his political development.

He said his decision not to run in the parliamentary elections had been a personal one and that he now believes the time has come to conclude his role in the party.

"I leave behind my youthful dedication and take with me valuable experience, warm memories and many good friends," Khazhakyan said.

Concluding his statement with a quotation from Armenian musician Artur Meschian, Khazhakyan said he is "moving forward with a new breath," signaling the beginning of a new chapter.
