Former Yerevan mayor ordered to repay 76.8 million drams

Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Court has ruled that former Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan must pay 76.8 million drams ($190,000) in damages to the capital’s city hall, following a lawsuit filed by prosecutors over losses attributed to his tenure.

The ruling follows a lawsuit filed in September 2025 by prosecutors from Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash districts, who sought compensation for losses to community interests. The court had earlier imposed an asset freeze on Beglaryan’s property equal to the claim amount.

On July 7, the court upheld the prosecutors’ claim in full, citing evidence established in a related criminal case. Once the judgment takes effect, the funds will be recovered in favor of the Yerevan Municipality.

Beglaryan served as Yerevan mayor from 2009 to 2010.
