Armenian prosecutors seek trial for 15 in major crime case

Armenian prosecutors have moved to bring 15 people to trial following a sweeping investigation into organized crime, the country’s Investigative Committee said on Tuesday.

Authorities allege the group, which includes crime bosses and their associates, carried out a series of serious offenses ranging from attempted murder and kidnapping to armed robbery, arson, and large-scale drug possession.

The Investigative Committee said nine of the suspects were placed in pretrial detention, while the remaining six were released under alternative measures. The case has now been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a request to forward it to court.

The probe involved extensive investigative and intelligence operations and uncovered evidence of crimes including illegal firearms trafficking, burglary and destruction of property by fire.
