Russia says peace, stability in South Caucasus remain priority

Russia’s Foreign Ministry said maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus is a priority as Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov prepares to visit Moscow on July 16-17 for talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

The ministry said the two will review bilateral ties and discuss regional and international issues.

Moscow underscored the potential of the “3+3” regional cooperation platform, which brings together Russia, Iran, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, saying it is designed to address challenges “without destructive interference from outside.”

“We remain ready to provide assistance in the full normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including a peace treaty, border delimitation and the reopening of transport links,” the ministry said, noting that roadmaps for these processes are outlined in trilateral agreements signed between 2020 and 2022.
