Armenian opposition MP says authorities restrict access to political prisoners

Armenian opposition lawmaker Tigran Abrahamyan says the authorities are restricting access to political prisoners, arguing that even MPs  are often prevented from visiting them.

Speaking about a little-discussed aspect of such cases, Abrahamyan, who represents the Pativ Unem faction, said on Thursday that in the overwhelming majority of them, lawmakers' ability to visit detainees is also limited.

"The government is making every effort to keep these people isolated, remove them from political processes and intensify pressure on them," he wrote on Facebook.
