Intestinal infection cases reported in Armenian town, several hospitalized

An outbreak of intestinal infection has been reported in the Armenian town of Byureghavan, with several residents requiring hospital treatment, the Health Ministry reported on Friday.

Emergency services received 15 calls overnight, six of which led to hospital admissions. Patients had fever, abdominal pain and general weakness. Doctors described their condition as moderate, and all are receiving appropriate medical care.

Specialists from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention are conducting epidemiological investigations and implementing anti-epidemic measures. Samples have been collected for laboratory testing to identify the source and transmission route of the infection.

The ministry said additional details on the cause of the outbreak will be released once laboratory and epidemiological findings are complete.
