Yerevan residents complain of late-night noise at birthday celebration of deputy mayor's son

Residents living near a hotel in central Yerevan say a birthday celebration for the son of Yerevan Deputy Mayor Sargis Madatyan kept them awake for hours due to loud music that continued past the city's nighttime quiet hours.

The event was held on the terrace of the 14th Floor Hotel and was organized to celebrate the birthday of Madatyan's son, Grigor Madatyan. A resident who contacted Panorama.am claimed that loud music and noise continued after 11 p.m., disrupting the surrounding neighborhood.

The resident said neighbors contacted Armenia's Interior Ministry and the Yerevan Municipality but claimed they received no response.

A similar incident reportedly occurred on July 19 last year during another birthday celebration for the same individual.

The resident further claimed that the 14th Floor Hotel is owned by the brother of Madatyan's wife, who is also said to own the Paris Hotel in Yerevan.

Seeking comment, Panorama.am contacted the Yerevan city hall. Municipal officials said property ownership is a private matter and not within the city's scope to comment on, adding that Madatyan could respond personally if he chose to do so.

Regarding the noise complaints, the Municipality said that if the disturbance occurred after 11 p.m., enforcement and any inspections fall under the jurisdiction of the relevant inspection authorities.

Panorama is prepared to publish comments from Deputy Yerevan Mayor Sargis Madatyan and the event organizers should they provide a response.
