MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FINDS WAYS TO COMBAT CORRUPTION AT HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENTS

Levon Mkrtchyan, minister of education and science, is well aware of corruption at higher educational establishment. He also knows how to combat it. He told his method at a press conference today saying it is Bologna process, which Armenia has joined recently. “Bologna process requires that corruption is eliminated in the universities of Armenia,” he said.

With the involvement of students and introduction of credit system, the minister hopes that corruption will be eliminated at higher educational establishments. Five working groups are set up, including also students. “We plan to sign open memorandum with student groups and individual students. We will have student monitoring movement,” the minister said.

He also pointed out that each group of students will monitor the progress of Bologna process. “The results of the monitoring are forwarded to a center which publishes a newsletter,” the minister details.
