EDUCATION LEADERS DISCUSS CREDIT SYSTEM

Leaders of higher educational establishements had a gathering at Yerevan State University (YSU) today. The managers of universities wanted to discuss credit system which is going to be introduced within the Bologna process. Minister of education and science, Levon Mkrtchyan, once again praised the Bologna process detailing its positive sides.

The minister assured that Armenia joins the process on its own will without being after for ready-made prescriptions. In his 40-minute speech, the minister did not touch upon the topic of credits very much.

The prorektor of YSU, Alexander Grigoryan, proposed to develop normative documents and ensure the consistency of the projects. Some university heads suggested publishing education material, newsletters and guides. The prorektors said YSU may step on to the credit system as of 2008-09 and Yerevan Engineering University from 2007-08. The deadline for implementing the guidelines of Bologna process is the year 2010.
