NO ONE WINS THE COMPETITION FOR A MONUMENT TO BE ERECTED AT THE PLACE OF STATUE OF LENIN

“I would request not to implement any of the options exhibited. They do not suit the square. Fresh ideas and taste are completely lacking,” - this was a suggestion by a citizen who watched 23 designs to be erected at Republic Square and exhibited at the Union of Architectures. Similar negative reactions are a lot. Therefore, the competition committee concluded that none of the exhibits deserves to be implemented at the Republic Square.

Three of the proposed samples won honor certificates – by Armen Tadevosyan, Frangulyan and Haik Asatryan.

This is the 5th competition for architectural designs to be erected at the Republic Square, at the place where the statue of Vladimir Ilich Lenin stood. The chief architect of the city said it is concerning that none of the proposals were deserving. He said professionalism is lacking.

Another competition will be held in 1.5 months.
