The Appeal Court ruling released three young men, who were imprisoned at Nubarashen prison as of April, 2004. Razmik Sargsyan, Musa Serobyan and Araik Zalyan were charged with the murder of two military servants. Siunik first instance court convicted them to 15 years of imprisonment and the Review Court – to life imprisonment. The three young man insisted that they have nothing to do with the crime and the military prosecutor’s office has tortured them for confession.
The Appeal court decision annulled the decision of the lower courts and released the young men from arrest.
Janna Alexanyan, expert of Human Rights Watch, says it is a victory of our court system. “This is the first time ever that the charge of military prosecutor’s office is not approved. Gagik Jhangiryan could not take the case to its end,” she said.
